Reduce Fraud & Increase Legitimate Transactions with 3D Secure Payments
Protect Your Sales & Reduce Online Fraud
With 3D Secure (3DS), you can rest assured knowing the transactions flowing through BlueSnap’s Global Payment Orchestration Platform are authenticated and validated to help you approve legitimate transactions. 3DS is designed to deliver frictionless payment authentication across all devices and supports features such as Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). Combined, these tools will protect your business from fraudulent purchases online and meet compliance requirements like the Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2). This helps you secure more sales and allow your customers to make purchases with ease.
Enhanced Functionality to Protect Your Payments
Verify cardholder identity in real time with SCA to prevent unauthorized use of cards.
Ensure legitimate shopper transactions are approved to capture valid sales.
3DS shifts liability for chargebacks from the merchant to the card issuer in certain situations, eliminating liability for merchants.
How 3DS Works
After a customer enters payment information, the merchant sends a request with the transaction’s details to the issuing bank to authenticate the transaction. Then, depending on the purchase value, location or other determining factors, cardholders may be asked for additional information to verify the purchase. This verification will come in the form of an SMS message to the cardholder so they can verify the transaction. This additional layer of security helps prevent unauthorized use of cards and protects merchants and issuers from exposure to fraud.
This advanced authentication solution is implemented to reduce online fraud by verifying the cardholder’s identity in real-time.
The revised European directive was established to benefit consumers by driving payment innovation and protecting data security and mandates new security processes — 3DS helps you meet the standard.
Strong customer authentication requires two-factor authentication to eliminate fraud before a transaction is processed.
3DS shifts the liability for fraudulent chargebacks from the merchant to the card issuer in certain situations, such as successful SCA verification or an issuer not requiring SCA to authenticate a transaction.
